The ProFractional laser uses laser energy to create thousands of microscopic channels in the skin which are surrounded by areas of healthy, untreated skin. The zones of untreated skin invigorate the body’s natural healing process, and the treated areas stimulate production of new collagen, plumping up the skin and smoothing out wrinkles, lines, scars and other irregularities.
Candidates for the ProFractional laser are those with scars, wrinkles or sun damage who want younger-looking skin. The face, neck chest and hands can be treated with the ProFractional laser and procedures take from 15 to 30 minutes depending on the condition of the skin and the size of area being treated. In some cases, a numbing cream may be applied prior to treatment to ensure complete comfort.
Treatments are typically done in a series of one to four treatments spaced three to six weeks apart, depending again on your area of need. Sometimes your Renew Skin Care Laser technician will recommend that your ProFractional laser treatment be combined with a MicroLaserPeel or another treatment for the best results.
After treatment, you may experience a mild redness and most patients can return to their normal work/play schedule within one to two days following treatment.

Acne is a disorder resulting from the action of hormones and other substances on the skin’s oil glands, sebaceous glands and hair follicles. Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes) are the anaerobic bacterium that causes acne. Severe acne can lead to permanent scarring. ThermaScan’s infrared energy at a 1319 nm wavelength and BBL’s 420 nm wavelength allow controlled heating of sub-epidermal layers of the skin. The pulse duration and high scattering coefficient limit the heated region to a uniform thin layer at the epidermal-dermal boundary. With proper treatment, the procedure will lead to collagen remodeling, proliferation of active fibroblasts, and treating over-acting sebaceous glands that result in the reduction of acne and improve acne scarring non-ablatively.

The Sciton 1064 wavelength, the optimal wavelength for fast and comfortable endovenous laser ablation. Absorption of laser light occurs in water within the vein and vein wall, and the heat generated by absorption of laser energy contracts and collapses the vein wall. This halts the formation of future varicosities and results in complete vessel closure. With blood flow to the insufficient vein interrupted, the pooling and bulging that causes varicose veins will begin to subside. The ablated vein is absorbed by the body and blood circulation redirects itself to healthy veins. Laser or light energy is selectively absorbed by the oxyhemoglobin resulting in heating of the blood vessels. With the correct wavelengths and fluence, the vascular lesion will be heated to above 70 o C. At that temperature, blood vessels will break down and shrink which leads to a reduction of the vascular lesion.

BBL BroadBand Light technology and MicroLaserPeel (MLP) treat sun-damaged and aging skin effectively. The light energy delivered by the BBL will gently be absorbed by the unwanted melanin responsible for pigmented lesions in the upper layers of the skin. Over the next few days the pigmented lesions will darken and fall off. MicroLaserPeel works differently. It is an intra-epidermal laser peel that precisely removes the outermost layers of the skin. Pigmented lesions can be removed by full-face or spot-treat superficial resurfacing.
